Story
Motor Neurone Disease is a cruel and indiscriminate disease. It robs you of your ability to walk, talk, swallow, breathe and, ultimately, to live. There is no cure. The average life expectancy is anything between 12 and 36 months.
Gordon Kille, ‘Gordy’ is a loving husband to Jane and a proud father to Charlie, Izabella and Jessamie. For over 21 years, he served and protected the public as a Police Officer. He is a friend to so many, an utterly genuine and decent man that has helped and supported others in Brackley Town and beyond.
In February 2019 Gordy received the devastating news that he had MND. His positive mind set and will to fight has been nothing short of inspirational. 12 months ago Mark Brock organised fund-raising to enable the Kille family to take a holiday of a lifetime to make memories.
Jane says “week by week we see changes where the disease is progressing, mobility becoming harder & having to rely on others to wash, feed & care for you, all while your mind stays exactly the same as it always has. We want to be able to still enjoy life but we need the equipment to do so”
Gordy needs electric wheelchair accessories ie ‘eye-gaze’ technology £2000, hoists £5000, motorised exercise equipment £2500 & a car/van £18,000. In the future Jane pledges to ensure this vital equipment will benefit others suffering from MND. Furthermore, Gordy and Jane will donate half of all funds raised directly to MND research
Nikki and Brendan O’Dowda will attempt to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa in September. Standing at 19,340ft, can we convert this into an ambitious fund-raising target of £19,340. Please join us as we stand shoulder to shoulder with Gordy and his family as he fights MND with every fibre of his being. Let’s raise as much money as possible to make a real difference to Gordy’s life. Please donate and forward a link to this page to your family and friends.
Go to the dedicated Facebook page 'Climb Kili for Kille' to see some fantastic vlogs from Gordy himself. Ahead of the Kilimanjaro trek, he has set himself, family, friends and supporters a further challenge of walking, running or cycling a combined total of 19,340 miles to raise awareness. Please get involved and post your own miles for Gordy to see and comment.
