Story

To erect, maintain, power, repair & dismantle..... Cleckheaton's Christmas Lights cost £12,000 per annum of which this year we will receive a grant of approx £1700 from Kirklees Council. The balance is funded by local businesses, collection boxes in shops, grants when available, general fundraising & our Christmas Markets. Due to rule changes, organisers are now responsible for Public Liability insurance for the light's costing an additional £705 and for the festival we now have to pay a traffic management company to close the roads costing an additional £1400. Whilst we had undertaken fundraising in advance to ensure we could still run this event, we did not expect to find ourselves with a £2100 shortfall. It also means we will need to re-think how we approach next years lights and raising what will now be more than £14,000 a year just to stand still.

Its a BIG ask, but if you are able to help us raise £500 this year we will be able to upgrade some of the fixings that keep our festoon up over Northgate, Albion Street & Cheapside and the lights shining

With your donation, help & support ‘liking & sharing’ this post we can make Cleckheaton 'SPARKLE' for another year.
