Story

Thanks for taking time to visit our donation page in memory of Alan 'Barney' Gardner.

Alan 'Barney' sadly passed away on the 7th February 2022 after fighting a battle with oesophageal cancer and his loss has affected so many.

In honour of his memory we have decided to set up this page in order to donate to two worthy causes. The choice was a difficult one as so many worthy organisations have helped us through this journey, and others have in the past touched our hearts.

The first choice is the Chernobyl Lifeline charity. For many years we as a family have supported this charity by hosting a Chernobyl child for a month each year. Barney has also visited Chernobyl with the charity to witness himself the day to day struggles these children and families face. This trip, I know had a dramatic impact upon him.

The second choice is Enfys ward at the North Wales Cancer Centre based in Glan Clwyd Hospital. Barney spent a number of weeks as an in-patient there, and on his latter admission I was able to stay with him for which I am eternally grateful. I slept next to Barney on a recliner chair which was exceptionally comfortable but unfortunately these are in short supply. I'm hoping that some of the proceeds raised will go towards purchasing some new chairs so that both patients and relatives can benefit.
