Story
During the last three and a half almost four years our little school has been subjected to a barrage of complaints from one family around issues of inclusion and discrimination. The staff and governors have taken every conceivable idea and course of action to try to resolve the issues. Even with the regular involvement of multi discipline agencies it has not been possible to alleviate the complaints.
Over the last eighteen months the situation has worsened resulting in both our KS1 & KS2 teachers taking extended periods of sick leave due to stress as a direct result of this situation. With an apparent lack of action or support from the local authority the school hit crisis point!
Concerned parents contacted the authority and were told that the authority just provide the finance for the school. They announced that they had commissioned an independent review to look at whether the school was discriminating against a child, this report recognised NO discrimination at the school. The authority failed to act on the report and a SEND (special educational and disability) tribunal was actioned against the school and governors. Again due to a lack of support from the authority the school instructed a specialist solicitor, Mr Ed Duff to act on their behalf.
The paperwork for a strikeout hearing was prepared but the day before the hearing the case was dropped by the family.
Our legal costs currently stand at just under £6000. £1600 has already been paid and whilst we do have some further pledges we still need to raise more money.
We have an amazing school with fantastic staff, our head teacher is a finalist for the Daily Posts Head teacher of the year 2017 and our KS1 teacher is recognised as the best in Gwynedd with other teachers being sent to study her teaching model. Through all this they have continued to provide our children with an outstanding education in a nurturing environment.
Please give whatever you can. We will be extremely grateful for all help received.
