Request for support

As we have been unable to run any of our usual fundraising events I am making the unusual move of a direct appeal.

To ensure all children have access to the highest quality books, both at school and at home, the school is upgrading its selection of phonically decodable reading books for our younger pupils.

Readers in Reception and KS1 will be practising their reading using the recently published 'Big Cats' series of books that have been developed specifically for the Little Wandle 'Letters and Sounds' phonics scheme. The books feature an exciting mix of stories and non-fiction to foster a love of reading in all children.

Once our children are able to decode, they have access to the incredible selection of books in our school library, our class libraries but having specific resources for the early stages in reading is crucial to support and engage young children.

Upgrading our books is a worthwhile investment, but rather expensive - we have set the ambitious target of £5,000!

So from now until Christmas, the school's fundraising push is being directed at upgrading our books for early readers. If you are interested and able to make a donation, or know someone who might, please do so via the 'Support Us' page on the school website here:

We are grateful for all your support.
