Story
Chris Evans - Volume 2 - Tetraplegic
On the 2nd July 2017 our Dad Chris Evans went mounting biking with ‘the lads’ like he does every Sunday and unfortunately came over the handle bars off his bike and suffered severe damage to his spinal cord. After just over a week in ICU and the possibility of nearly losing him his strength pulled him through and he began ‘Volume 2’. He is now in Sheffield Northern Specialist Spinal Facility and his journey has not been easy to say the least. Unfortunately he is now a tetraplegic which means there will no longer be movement from his neck down and he will have to remain on a ventilator due to damage to his left lung but this won’t hold him back on his mission to get back to his wife of 25 years, out with his best friend our Doberman Diesel and eventually out with the lads when he returns home sometime this year.
Our Dad has always been generous with his time in helping others which means we have many people who care enough to take part in the below challenges and fun days to raise a target of £50,000 to get our dad a made to measure off-road wheel chair and other aids to gain his independence.
We would be eternally grateful if you would like to donate and help our dad begin Volume 2 of his life. We’ll post regular updates on his rehabilitation whilst we’re training (attempting) for our triathlon.

7 years ago6 months ago we started our fundraising journey and £50k seemed ambitious but all 565+ of you made it more than possible! A few offline donations from Tesco £500, Royal Mail £800, Friends of the Kearneys £60, Nancy Kennedy £50, Bridie Reilly £100, St Vincent Society £100 mean we've reached £59,716.65. 7 years agoAs many of you are aware Dad used to spend his Sundays out on his bike doing stupid things with 'The Lads'... Dad made a 'C.R.A.P Ride' (Chris; Ride Around Perimeter. Back on the 20th May everybody made it around the 33mile C.R.A.P circuit once and Robbie, Mitch & Big Al managed it a second time. An outstanding ride by all, it's not easy by any stretch but doing so they managed to raise £2359.00 CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU!

I just want to say a huge thank you to Rich Whitehouse, Chris Waldron, Alan Cunningham, Jake Bate, Chris Harvey, Jack Dinger, Gemma Rawcliffe, Amie Coleman for taking part. It was an incredible day and everyone worked amazingly together! It's safe to say we were total amateurs but we had fun!! Our dad just wanted to say thanks for taking part and thanks for raising money for him. We even managed to get Dad a medal of his own (cheat!)

Hi, Rachel and Katie Evans here. We could go on for ages as to how incredible our Dad is, he's basically a superhero but hopefully with the events coming up and the support we hope to receive on this page should show you how incredible others think he is!
