Hythe ECG is a non-profit organisation that has no income from joining fees. As you can see from the website, we support a wide range of activities from holding Bird walks with experts to Litter Picking, Gleaning, Creating a Community Orchard,, running an Electrical Waste Drop Off Point Advising on Energy and many others. Larger projects will be covered by grant applications, but we rely on donations to cover the cost of the website and ongoing running costs for the different activities. Currently our priority activity is "Gleaning" where we take groups of volunteers out to friendly farmers, harvest crops that are not commercially viable for the farmer and distribute free to local organisations (Foodbanks, schools, hospice, refuges and anyone supporting those in food poverty) Consumables with costs to cover typically are potato sacks for transporting produce, harvesting knives and gloves.
