Iʼve raised £150 to produce a 360 degree panoramic video installation of the ascent of Mt Ishizuchi , one of the seven holy mountains of Japan.

    Story

I will record my ascent to the shrine at the top of Mt Ishizuchi in Ehime Prefecture, one of Japan’s Seven Holy Mountains using a 360 video camera in real time. The route to the top is a 3-4 hour climb made following a route of heavy iron chains to scale the perpendicular rock face.

The resulting panoramic images will be used to develop an on-line and immersive video installation which I will exhibit in the UK and Japan during 2019-2020.

Nearly ready to go! All arrangements are now in place for my climb on Oct 4th-5th. Flights booked, equipment assembled and tested. I've kept up my weekly training sessions in the gym and should hopefully be able to last the course. Very much looking forward to the challenge...

Thank you for the support so far! I'm beginning my "training" for the climb, have new workout routine at the gym, and have also had some introductory bouldering sessions. Discovered I'm not as flexible as I need to be... Today the 360 degree camera arrived, so I've begun to teach myself how to it works and what it can do. Currently downloading some new firmware, so I'm in uncharted territory.
