Story

The South Elmsall, South Kirkby and Upton (SESKU) Young at Heart Group is a bereavement support group that provides a lifeline to local elderly bereaved ladies and gentlemen to overcome the tragic loss of their beloved husband and wives.

Prior to the Coronavirus pandemic, the group of over 100 people would meet at least once a week to socialise and support each other. Many new friendships and relationships were formed amongst people who understood what each new member was going through.

Sadly, because the majority of the group are over 70 and fall within the vulnerable categories of people most at risk from Coronavirus and COVID-19, many of the group members have been home alone for several weeks and will be home alone for many more weeks.

They are scared and becoming increasingly lonely often not having contact with anyone for days other than the occasional telephone call.

I am trying to raise money in order to support the group in order to find volunteers in the local community to support the group members with grocery shopping, collection of prescriptions etc and most importantly, to spend time having a conversation (at a safe distance outside their homes) with people that are in desperate need of help.

If you can spare a small donation it will help make a big difference.

Many thanks
