Our Sports dome has served its purpose over the past 17 years and now its time to look at our carbon footprint and the sustainability of the dome. As a club and a community we have outgrown the dome, with Chippenham’s population continuing to grow, and people seek ways to improve their physical and mental well-being across all age groups, there is more demand for space from different sports and community groups.
We are very excited about this project, but without vital funds, we won't be able to turn our dreams into a reality.
What we know.... We are currently burning over 7000L of fuel a year to keep it heated, we are spending £30 000 on electricity per year to keep it inflated and lit. This has a massive impact on the environment.
What we are planning... A more permanent green facility using solar, sustainable heating and water capture to reduce our carbon footprint. A facility that will accommodate our existing sports plus new ones, offering better quality facilities for more sports to be able to play competitive matches. We can introduce new community groups into the studio spaces and provide improved facilities for use by businesses and schools for academic and learning activities.
There is nothing like our facilities within Wiltshire that are community based and this project will provide a much needed space for many groups and clubs.
