Storehouse Foodbank is a project that aims to support families, couples, and individuals in short-term need of food and toiletries. Based in Trowbridge, this service began in 2006 in response to a growing need within our community. Since then, they have developed good working relationships with a range of local agencies and services to support the wider community.

In April 2010, the food bank opened a referral centre. Over the years they have seen continual and significant growth in need. This year they have fed 933 adults and 503 children with nearly 3000 bags of food. Currently the charity is in a position currently where they find themselves with the shelves more empty than ever before. With the increase in living costs less people are able to donate to the charity as readily as before.

Baby Basics is a volunteer-led project aiming to support new mothers and families who are struggling to meet the financial and practical burden of looking after a new baby. There is an ever increasing network of Baby Basics centres across the country each staffed by a committed team of volunteers.

Baby Basics provides much needed essentials and equipment to mothers and families who are unable to provide these items for themselves; including but not limited to teenage mums, people seeking asylum and women fleeing domestic abuse and trafficking. Now with an increase in mothers struggling due to the cost of living crisis referrals are increasing leaving the charity with an increased need for donations.

I have chosen to raise money by climbing the three peaks in October. I am aiming to fully recover from Covid and Long Covid while training to complete the challenge. After a very lengthy recovery I wanted a challenge to help me over the final hurdles. I will be joined by Jenny Baker, Steve Baker and Nicola Ivory-Osborne as my climbing buddies.
