Chasing The Sun: One Pedal Stroke At A Time

Chasing The Sun is a new feature documentary from the team behind 2014’s acclaimed film Bicycle. It will include contributions from broadcaster Ned Boulting and Jools Walker (AKA LadyVélo), Chris Boardman and Sarah Storey (tbc) alongside a cast of ordinary cyclists pursuing extraordinary achievements.

We're super-excited. And so is Ned:

I’m delighted that I will be a contributor in this really important forthcoming film and to be helping as a consultant too. Support if you can!

We want to offer you something unique to help us.

£100 gets YOUR NAME in the credits of the film.

We are only releasing 100 of these packages, so get yours now.

    About Chasing The Sun

In 1973 a man in a little known American University set out to discover the most energy efficient creature on earth. The experiment has since entered into legend and is now more relevant to our world than ever before: a human being on a bicycle is the most efficient being on the planet.

The bicycle can enable ordinary people to do extraordinary things, like Chase The Sun- an event where people ride coast to coast, 200 miles or more in a single day, fuelled only by sandwiches, energy bars, cups of tea and good cheer.

And it has the potential to do something much more extraordinary. At a time of energy crisis, of climate catastrophe caused by energy misuse, the bicycle can take a front line position in the fight against climate change. One pedal stroke at a time.

Ned Boulting and Jools Walker will share how cycling has shaped their lives and continues to play a major role in everyday London living. Chasing The Sun will be a dynamic and entertaining film that opens up a wide conversation about the powerful place of the bicycle in our lives and communities, showing how the bicycle can lead the way to better health and well-being as well as a means to help reduce pollution and combat the climate crisis.

2x BAFTA Award-winning Director Michael B.Clifford talks about what's inspiring the film:

This film will follow Chase The Sun riders as they cross England, coast to coast, sunrise to sunset.

As we cross the country, we will reveal stories beyond the ride itself. How the bicycle is pushing up green shoots across the land, tackling climate change and bringing other benefits through congestion and pollution reduction, mental and physical wellbeing and community joy. Like the ride, these stories will be rooted in a range of landscapes and feature the diverse communities that are Britain today.

And powered by the sun, the film will play with darkness, dawn, high noon, magic hour, blue hour and everything in between to create a film that is both inspirational and a thing of beauty.

We have created a new short teaser film to give you a taste of what we aim to do in Chasing The Sun:

We need your help! Can you support Chasing The Sun?

We want to offer you something unique to help us get the first funds in so we can film at this year's and next year's CTS event which will form a core part of the whole feature length documentary film. It will have its World Premiere in Autumn 2023 ahead of a UK-wide cinema release.

£100 gets YOUR NAME in the credits of the film.

It also gets you a HD digital edition of the film to download forever. You get this after the World Premiere BUT before anyone else sees it.

On top of that you will get a 10 minute extra feature with an interview with the film's 2x BAFTA-winning director. This extra will be only for those who take up this offer.

On top of all that goodness every person who takes up the offer will go into a prize draw with the winner getting 4 VIP tickets to the World Premiere of the film in London along with invitations to the after party.

We are only releasing 100 of these so get yours now.

Of course, we would be super-grateful for all contributions to help get the film made, but only those contributing £100 or over will qualify for the special film credit benefits package.

Thanks to everyone in advance as we pursue our dream of Chasing The Sun.

We've had a busy summer's filming at Herne Hill Velodrome with Ned Boulting and Jools Walker, at Chase The Sun 2023 with a spectacular new finish location on the Grand Pier at Weston Super Mare and just last week 3 days in Bristol witnessing a range of community projects run by Life Cycle and others which are transforming countless lives. There's a little more filming to come but we're starting the editing process now as we speed towards a film premiere sometime in November! Thanks to everyone for your support and keep spreading the word...

I'm working on this so maybe a vested interest, but the passion of cyclists I listened to during a day’s filming was uplifting and inspiring. Let's get this done for the environment - please chip in.
