I've raised £8000 to Charlotte’s Fight against Cancer

Charlotte is a cute 4 year old little girl who 14 days ago was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) for which only approx. 60 children are diagnosed with each year. This is a rare type of cancer that forms in soft tissue – specifically skeletal muscle tissue or sometimes hollow organs such as the bladder or uterus. RMS can occur at any age, but it most often affects children. In Charlotte’s case this has appeared in her head attached to muscle. Charlotte has already had numerous scans, blood tests and Bone marrow samples taken leading up to her diagnosis.
The good news is that this is treatable with Chemotherapy and surgery. This treatment is going to be a long journey for Charlotte with residential hospital stays at the Addenbrookes hospital receiving Chemotherapy every three weeks for three days at a time and weekly one day visits to the Norfolk and Norwich hospital to receive Chemotherapy. This treatment is estimated to take the next 9 months with surgery included. This is proving to be a logistical and financial challenge for Charlotte’s parents having to travel from the East coast of East Anglia to Addenbrookes frequently with only one of Charlottes parents being able to stay with her at hospital and Charlotte’s father having to stay close by in accommodation. This funding page is to help towards traveling and accommodation costs and anything That Charlotte needs to aid her recovery. Any donations no matter how small will be greatly received.
Charlotte had another trip to Addenbrookes yesterday 20th Novemeber for more Chemotherapy. The Consulant's have stated that Charlotte is going to need specialist treatment called Proton Beam Therapy. There is only one location that offers this treatment in the UK and that's in Manchester for which she would need daily treatment for 6 weeks. If there isn't any space available at Manchester they would have to go to West Germany for the 6 weeks therapy. The new Therapy is needed due to the location of the tumor. If conventional Radiotherapy is used Charlottes face would not grow properly and would leave Charlottes face out of proportion and also damaging radiation would enter her brain. I have increased the Target due to this update which we weren't expecting. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have already donated it is greatly appreciated and please continue to Share share share.
