Story

My daughter Charlotte and her friend Evie would like to gain their 'Charities' badge at Brownies. In order for them to do this they have decided to complete a Duathlon on 3rd July 2021.

The duathlon will consist of them running 5km around the local Quarry (park) and then jumping on their bikes to ride 10km around Tupsley and the surrounding area. They will finish back at the Quarry for one final lap (about 800m), which they will run.

The girls would love your support in raising as much money as they can for their chosen charity, which is the New Rock Foundation School in Kampala, Uganda (their school's chosen charity).

So the day of the Duathlon arrived and . . it was raining! This didn't deter the girls as they were ready to go. They set off for the first run at 08:36 and took just 32 mins to run 5.49km (we had to make sure we did the 5km required). The transition from run to cycle was not Olympic standard as it was about 30 mins (due to a change of clothes and a Jaffa Cake). The girls started the cycle ride at 09:34 and completed 11.48km in 49 mins (1.48km more than needed)! The last lap of the Quarry was a speedy 4 mins, Duathlon done, well done girls!
