Story

We are in the process of putting in an application to the Lord’s Taverners for a new minibus and need to raise £28K within 9 months. Our current bus is showing signs of deterioration, It is starting to rust and the roof leaks so pupils and seats get wet during wet weather.

Without this minibus we will struggle to continue with the current off-site visits available to our pupils. We currently use the minibus to allow pupils from Chadsgrove School to access opportunities in the community including:

• attending Outdoor Adventurous Activities as part of their P.E Curriculum, we would be able to take pupils sailing, ice skating (we can take the wheelchairs on the ice), zip wiring, the Wyre Forest story trail for younger pupils. These visit allow the pupils to develop self-confidence, resilience and achieve success which they can use to overcome obstacles they face daily

• allow the pupils to access sporting events including Lord Taverners Boccia, County Table Cricket, Panathlon, Powerchair Football and School Games events including Boccia, New Age Kurling, Arrows Archery and Pan Disability Football. These events allow the pupils to develop communication, team work and other social skills.

We often have to hire buses which are very costly, sometimes they are not available which means pupils cannot attend the competition or OAA event.

Transitioning – having the minibus enables pupils to visit Colleges, Day Centres, Work Experience Placements to help them make decisions and prepare pupils for their next steps
