Story
Hi all!
Laura and I have set up this page to raise funds during a hugely stressful time for us and her mum, Catherine.
Her mother Catherine has lived in Siorac de Riberac, France since 2002. She was diagnosed with Stage 2 CUP in 2014 and been receiving a variety of care at Bergonie hospital in Bordeaux and home. She has received both chemo and radiotherapy but to no real success as it continued to spread and in 2016 two small tumours were discovered in her brain which she received more radiotherapy and did seem to work and was coping well.
She had been at home with minimal home help since then (she lived alone as her husband passed away in 2010) but in early December she was re-admitted to hospital in Riberac. Since then Catherine's condition has been in decline as she has tumours spreading in her brain which has caused various complications and loss of mobility and personal care.
We would love to transfer her mother from hospital to a French Care Home of some description but costs are very high (around £2000 a month). This would ensure she is in a much more comfortable and caring setting rather than in a hospital during her last few months. All of this care will be purely palliative.
As Catherine's only remaining family, Laura has been travelling to and from France at various points over the last few years and in this time of need is now spending longer periods of time out there, not only to see her Mum in hospital but to ensure Catherine's house is in order and that in case of the worst we are prepared in regards to legal and funeral costs.
These trips over have meant Laura has had to take time unpaid off work and also hiring cars and booking flights putting more financial pressure on us.
We have set a target of a £3000 but regardless of what we raise, more or less, everything will be appreciated and go straight towards the costs primarily of Catherine's care, then any additional costs we are looking at.
If we are lucky enough to raise anything over our target it will be split between AGE UK 🇬🇧 & Cancer Support France. Both who have been hugely helpful in our time of need.
Any questions about this drop me a message.
Thanks for reading and HUGE THANKS for anyone who donates.
Adam & Laura
