Story
Carrie Carmichael started powerlifting only a few years ago and she has literally gone from strength to strength! Under the guidance and encouragement of her coach Sean Crowe, 19 year old Carrie has been smashing personal bests and has a current deadlift of 170 kilos! She's a well known and respected personal trainer to many in West Belfast and she's about to hit the world stage.
On 23rd March, Carrie received her invitation from the Irish Powerlifting Association to join the National Team and represent Ireland at the 5th IPF World Open Sub-Junior, Junior and Master Classic Powerlifting Championships in Minsk, Belarus.
Carrie will celebrate her 20th birthday by representing her country and her club, Strength Militia Belfast, at this prestigious event. Between now and then, she'll be training, resting, eating well and working her day job!
We'd love your help to make sure that Carrie has all the support and resources she needs to prepare for success. Every pound and penny we raise will go to meeting the costs of her training and travel so thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and to consider being part of Carrie's journey.
We think it'll be the first of many and you'll be able to say you were with her from the start!
***Please don't be put off by the large amounts some people are gifting. We're beyond grateful to them but we'd be just as welcoming of your £2 or £5 if you have it give. When you click the 'DONATE' button, it will suggest some amounts, between £10-100. Just delete what's already in the box and type in whatever you want to give. ***
Thanks again,
Carrie's family and friends.

8 years agoThis our last post before the page closes so that Carrie can switch off and get herself 'in the (medal) zone' before flying out early tomorrow morning. The money raised on this page has covered: flights, accommodation, other travel and subsistence while in Belarus and Carrie's full Team Ireland 🇮🇪 kit: tracksuit, top, competition singlet and deadlift socks. We also have around £250 left which will be paid off the fee for Carrie's International Powerlifting Coach accreditation in Barcelona in September 2017. Thank you all! 🥇

8 years agoOn 23 June 1997, Michaela King and Cormac Carmichael welcomed their baby girl, Carrie Louise into the world. She was 5 weeks premature and weighed 4lb 14oz. Fast forward almost 20 years... On 18 June 2017, Carrie Carmichael flies out to represent Ireland at the IPF World Championships. She now weighs 69kg and lifts 170kg in a deadlift! Carrie has asked me to thank all of you again for giving her the financial backing to allow her to take part in the games. We'll post a link for live streaming soon but for now GOOD LUCK CARRIE! x
