Iʼve raised £3,000 to Help keep Carriages Community Cafe open.

    Newark Castle Station, Nottinghamshire
Funded on Friday, 15th May 2020

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

Carriages has offered a Community Cafe at Newark Castle railway station since we opened almost 3 years ago. During this time we have been providing a 3 course meal for £3 after the regular cafe closes at 5:30pm, every other week.

We have also operated a successful "pay it forward" scheme meaning people can offer to pay for someone else's meal, who could otherwise go hungry!

Given the unprecedented circumstances that we find ourselves in, we have decided to run the Community cafe as a takeaway every single Wednesday, for the foreseeable future, to support the vulnerable during these difficult times.

We will be providing “a meal in a bag” to be collected and taken home to eat. The food will include a cooked meal and we will provide other food that can be used at home, we would ask you to pre-order and collect at around 3pm on Wednesdays – we will share the menu on Facebook as usual, but it will be collect only.

To help fund this, we are asking for support during this challenging time as we are in danger of closing due to the extreme measures currently in place. Without donations, we simply could not afford to keep this project going which has been feeding vulnerable people that have depended on this meal for the past two and a half years.

More people than ever need this service and we really appreciate any donation to ensure that we can carry on for as long as possible.

A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. Caring communities are strong communities.

    Thank you.

    The Carriages Team x

The community cafe at Carriages will continue to support its most vulnerable residents with a meal delivered with volunteers to their door - with extra guidelines from NSDC we are able to also have people collect from Carriages under strict distancing rules. If you know of anyone that would benefit from this service please get in touch - info@CarriagesNewark.co.uk the meal will consist of 2 courses (make sure it's piping hot when re-heated) and some 'goodies' - this will vary depending on supplies THANK YOU!
