Story
In 2019 there was a successful campaign to raise funds for AEDs within the Adur district, which enabled 16 AEDs to be installed (see list below). I believe now is the right time to include AEDs within the Southlands area. I hope that you will agree that ensuring we have these life saving machines installed nearer to where we live and shop will provide us all with greater opportunity to help ensure that we can help save lives.
I believe it is time to increase this number to ensure that North Shoreham in particular also benefits from these life saving machines. I am calling this campaign 'Caring 4 Hearts'. I would like to see funds raised for three machines to be installed in the Southlands Ward and/or near the boundary. The aim would be to install these machines in the heart of the community, so that everyone can gain access to AEDs in an emergency.
Heart strokes/attacks can happen to any of us at any time, whether young or older, so being able to access an AED machine 24/7 should give someone suffering a heart attack a 90% chance of recovery. medical training is not required to use these machines, as the AED machine talks to you through the process on how to help save a life.
Many of the organisations that provide AED machines also offer free CPR training for up to 10 volunteers. I would be grateful if you are interested in undertaking CPR training you would contact me on the email above.
Starting from February 2022, shops nearby to residents in Southlands will be selling wristbands at £1 each, all monies to to the AED campaign fund.
I hope that you will support this campaign to help install three AEDs in Southlands Ward, the cost is estimated at £1,170 each (inc installation cost) so the initial goal is £4,000 (covering cost of replacement batteries/pads when AEDs require them).
Thank you. Tania Edwards

2 years agoI'm pleased to confirm that two more defibs have been installed, one on the outside corner of the Red Lion Pub and the other outside Shaws Glass in North Shoreham, bringing the total to 5. A 6th defib will hopefully be installed soon, details of site to follow. Please see attached article providing more details as where all 5 defibs have been installed. Thank you to everyone again for the terrific support received, especially from one donation that paid for 3 defibs from the Grand Order of Lady Ratlings trustees for The Cup Of Kindness.

3 years agoFantastic news, 3rd AED machine fitted in Kingsland Close, just inside the entrance to Kingsland House, on wall to right of main entrance of front door. So we have a one AED at Shoreham Fire Station, another at Milward Day Centre, Wilmot Road and lastly Kingsland Close. Hopefully we will continue to receive more donations to provide the additional backup batteries and of course the additional pads. Ideally I would like to add a couple more AEDs in North Shoreham & Adur area. Thank you to all Adur residents for contributing. Tania Edwards

3 years agoYesterday 2 AEDs were installed at Shoreham Fire Station by Holmbush Roundabout & Milward Court Day Centre, Wilmot Road, Shoreham. The 3rd will be fitted next week, details to follow. None of this would have happened without the generosity & support of many people throughout the Adur community, thank you. Special thanks to Val Fenuik, Jenny Ramshaw and Laura Hallett from Buckets of Fun who provided donations through fundraising events to kick off this campaign. A big THANK YOU too to ADUR COUNCIL for giving the resources to install the AEDs.
