As the populations of European refugee camps come and pass, remaining for periods of limbo in between, complex and singular experiences are interlaced to form the human web of the current 'refugee crisis'. This includes the different journeys taken by both exiles living in the camps and volunteers working in them.
Faced with the difficulty of sharing and relating these traumatic, angry, hopeful experiences, we have compiled diverse voices from diverse camps into this book. We hope that this will help to articulate some of the 'journeys' taken, the stories heard and the emotions lived. We hope also to overcome the simplistic dichotomies that can separate people in these contexts; 'helper' and 'helped', 'good' and 'bad', 'victim' and 'threat'.
The stories in this book have been written by people who have spent time in European refugee camps and who wished to share their journeys.
We can post to France or the UK, but if you are outside of these countries and would like a copy please send us an email: dunkerquejourneys@gmail.com.
All proceeds will go the Refugee Women's Centre, who have been working with displaced women and minors in refugee camps in northern France for over two years. Their tireless work provides invaluable support to some of the most vulnerable people in the area.

7 years agoThank you to all those who have supported our 'Camp Journeys' zine so far. Your generous donations have brought us half way to our fundraising target already! This is a reminder to FILL OUT THE GOOGLE DOCUMENT (https://goo.gl/tVVNpk) in order to get a copy of the zine. Without this we cannot see the postal address to which to send. We hope the publication will give you an insight into the lives touched, torn and transformed by migration - not only this harsh winter but over the course of the years. Thank you.
