Story

Myself, Andrea Battaglia, Emma Oldham-Fox, Claire Collett, Nicola P, Nicola I, Amie, Katherine and Rashid are running the Yorkshire Marathon on 8th October and wanted to raise money for a local cause.

Callan's story

In July 2016 Callan who lives in Longwood, (Huddersfield) left school on his last day to hang out with his friends in local woodland. A few hours later his life changed forever. He fell off a rope swing and broke his neck. He was airlifted to hospital and spent 5 months in Sheffield Northern General Hospital. He is confined to a wheelchair with no use of his legs. His arms were weak when he left hospital and Callan has been working hard all year to get full use of his arms back. His family have had to make massive adaptations to the house, pay for extensive physiotherapy and pay for an modified wheelchair. His family and friends have been a massive support and have never let Callan give up hope. Callan has started college studying Sports Development and Coaching and plays wheelchair rugby for the Yorkshire Lions.

He has the potential to go really far in this sport and one day hopefully represent Team GB. To do this he needs a special modified sport wheelchair that is not publicly funded.

We are raising this money to help contribute to this wheelchair so that we can all cheer him on when he plays for Great Britain.
