Iʼve raised £13,844 to pay the bar bills in Manchester, because people working shifts after a bombing shouldn't buy their own drinks.

Story
I listened to the awful news the morning after the bombing and thought I'd like to put a few quid behind the bar at a pub near the Mancester Royal Infirmary. I know alchohol isn't the answer to the stress and trauma that the emergency services have experienced today, but it seems a simple and easy way to say thank you. I'm putting £100 behind the bar, any amount you can afford I'll add it to mine.
Drinks and food have been available in the Turing Tap from 6pm on 23 May and the tab is still open, we will announce other locations once we see how the fundraising goes near other hospitals, fire and police stations.
I will post a full breakdown of what was paid and where it went here and online, and send a copy of it to the Manchester Evening News.
Incidentally, I'm a real person, Ed Hall, and I volunteer as lifeboat crew in London. This isn't a fake post. My email is ed.hall@expertmediapartners.com if you want to check me out.

8 years agoI am speechless. We have raised ten thousand pounds to buy a drink for the wonderful men and women who are working so hard to help those affected by the terrible events in Manchester. Nothing we've done today will fix the damage, or lessen the pain of those directly affected, but emergency service and hospital workers should know that if we were there now, we would buy them a drink. Of course we would. Who wouldn't? Thank you.

8 years agoAfer careful thought and a discussion with the pub and others, and reading some comments on here, I have decided to keep the page open overnight and we can arrange events near other hospitals and police stations in the next few days. People are donating to say thank you, and that's what we'll do. Ed x
