Thanks to all you amazing people, we have successfully completed the Bus, however unfortunately due to Covid19, we are unable to use this for the most vulnerable homeless in Bury, as well as provide crucial hygiene, health and nutritional assistance.

Unfortunately, until we are allowed to home the homeless, we will not be able to use the Bus.

We have already raised £4193, we now need an additional £5000 for a suitable van to continue supporting the most vulnerable.

Which now means that the Bury Homeless Project are actively reaching out for funds to purchase a desperately Van to ensure that the most Vulnerable are reached with vital food and home furnishings.

We are a not-for-profit community project assisting genuine rough sleepers, housed clients/families experiencing financial hardship, ex homeless clients now housed and women who have been subjected to domestic violence, including children. The project is now in its 6th year.

We provide donations of clothing, food parcels, children’s toys, uniforms, footwear to a range of clients in need. We work on referrals with local services in our community, and the probation.

The project is run purely by volunteers, who give up their time and support helping those who are most vulnerable in our society. This year pre COVID-19 we converted a double decker bus to a shelter, complete with 6 beds, toilet, kitchen, comfort area with TV. This gives rough sleepers warmth and shelter and a sense of safety. It will also be a local food bank for our struggling community to access on a daily basis.

Whilst COVID remains part of our daily routine, our bus is unable to be used at present. It’s the Projects intention to purchase/or rent somewhere for the bus to have a permanent location, so there will be consistency for our clients to have somewhere to come.

For all our daily/evening services, We currently only have access to volunteers vehicles. A van is perfect for any volunteer able to use it on a daily basis.

The vehicle would provide a consistent service for our clients, avoiding additional costs to our volunteers own vehicles.

Having a larger vehicle would enable us to transport white goods, large household items and necessity items in one journey, when we are housing a client from the streets-accommodation.

We distribute approx 10-15 food parcels daily, we provide an evening outreach service to rough sleepers, donating out relevant camping supplies, sleeping bags, hot drinks and food, clothing. This is done 7 days a week.

Our voluntary service is a necessity in today’s ever changing world. We work with relevant local organisations to ensure no rough sleeper or vulnerable individuals are missed.
