Story

I am trying to raise funds to go towards the purchase of a new wheelchair for my son Brynn. Brynn is a very tall (and still growing!) 14yr old and loves archery and the great outdoors. Brynn is always trying to help other people and currently volunteers at the local childrens disability clubs, over the last two years he has volunteered over 250 hours. It would be great with help from other people to give Brynn something back.

Brynn is grateful for the standard NHS wheelchair he has been provided but sadly it does not meet his needs. Brynn finds his current wheelchair very heavy, rickety, awkward and tiring to propel himself and it is more suited for a carer to push him around. Brynn would love to have more freedom and be more independent, which an active wheelchair would help him achieve. The wheelchair he would like is lighter and tailored to his individual needs. Taking into account his love for archery, festivals and the great outdoors, it will have mountain bike wheels to help him navigate the different terrains in shetland and the wider UK. In the future he hopes to be able to have an attachment giving him a third wheel to raise the castors off the ground allowing him to go even more off road. The cost for a new wheechair which will be built with Brynn and his hobbies in mind and also to grow with him is £4000.
