Story

We are a group of local friends and residents who have come together to regenerate our much loved "Brushfield Park." Built in the mid 80s as part of a housing estate it has stood the decades of fun, laughter and inclement weather with just a few licks of paint.

Seeing the park shut during lockdown only heightened its need for major improvements, with unsafe rubber floor tiles and equipment that's tired, worn and degraded, rejuvenation is the only way forward not only to improve the equipment but to implement accessible play for children in wheelchairs who live within the community, giving all children the opportunity to enjoy the facilities and play together.

As a child the park was the central place where as friends we all knew to meet (before the invention of mobile phones!) with hours of enjoyment, a shout that tea was ready, then straight back up till bath time! No matter where we live the park is the heart of the community that builds our characters and where we make true friendships for life.

Whilst creating this project what has become apparent is how many local residents who once played on "Brushfield Park" as a child have chosen to settle and start their own families here knowing the safe, happy environment they grew up in is still the idyllic place they remember.

For this reason we are pulling together as a community to give the children a safe recreational space they deserve, by holding fundraising events and asking everyone to be involved in giving back a newly regenerated "Brushfield Park."
