Story
In August 2016 the members of Brunswick Accordion Band are travelling to France and Belgium to pay tribute to the many local men who fell during the Great War. We are currently compiling a booklet detailing all those from Annalong and district who made the supreme sacrifice.
Our visit will include the opportunity to visit many of the iconic sites of the Western Front and to pay a musical tribute at the Ulster Tower and Thiepval Memorial.
The highlight of our trip will be participating in the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate in the Belgian town of Ypres - where the band will perform a specially commissioned piece of music entitled 'Men of Mourne.'
We are a small community based band and whilst we have been busy fundraising and securing support from a number of sources - we do still have a gap in our project budget and would therefore be extremely thankful for donations (of any size) from those who are interested in the work of the band.
Thanks from everyone at Brunswick - your ongoing support is really appreciated by us all.
