I have been a Trustee of Broadreach House for almost two years. Prior to that I was the charity's Chief Executive from October 2008 to August 2017. The charity is something that has stayed in my blood throughout that time and it always will. It is a remarkable place with a magic about it. All the clients will have their own story to tell and despite the fact that addiction isn't always "sexy" when it comes to generating public support, it has survived many years of turbulence due to under funding, continuing to change the lives of literally thousands of people, for the better. Over recent months the charity has faced a number of financial issues and despite the best efforts of all concerned it finds itself in the precarious situation of facing possible imminent closure. The people who work in the charity are incredible, so much so that they have forfeited their salaries or parts of their salaries in efforts to regain financial health. This cannot continue. If the charity closes lives will undoubtedly be lost. It is something that I and others feel passionately about. Addiction has never been more prevalent, the need for services like Broadreach has never been greater. The demand is there, Broadreach is at full capacity. The most vulnerable and broken individuals walk through the doors of Broadreach and invariably will leave stronger and healthier, with a future that is brighter. Please spread the word and if you know of individuals or funders who may be in a position to support the charity please bring the plight of Broadreach to their attention. None of the Trustees are paid for their role; this is purely passion and love for services that have made such an amazing difference to the lives of so many.
