Since Bridport Folk Festival was created in 2017, we have raised and donated £1,000’s for charities and worthy causes within our community. In 2020 the Covid pandemic took hold and we donated the residual funds to needy causes such as Food Banks. The following two years were a struggle but we persisted and successfully pulled of two amazing festivals. Sadly, following health issues in 2022 it was decided to call it a day and once again the funds were donated, the largest donation being £3000 to Harmony Mental Health project. However, the disappointment expressed from so many sources coupled with a personal sense of loss for this vibrant event was too strong. To bring together a festival of music and dance with all the coloured spectacle of the performers is truly rewarding and the benefits to the town and beyond are a goal worth the headaches and sleepless nights. It is for this very reason that we are launching an appeal to help raise the required funds to bring Bridport Folk Festival back to the town calendar. Thank you for reading, Chris Deacon.
