Story
Some of the nursing staff from the Neonatal unit at James Paget Hospital are running an inflatable 5k race at the Norfolk Showground on the 7th May 2022. We are asking for sponsorship so we can buy two breast pumps to loan to the families in our care when they are separated from their newborn babies, that have been born poorly or too soon.
On the Neonatal unit we support all mothers to initiate close relationships and feeding as soon as possible after birth. Mothers who provide breastmilk for their premature babies are ensuring their babies receive milk which is uniquely formulated for pre-term development. We support all mothers wishing to breastfeed, to initiate and maintain lactation and transition to breastfeeding when the time is right.
Breastfeeding is a supply and demand process and mothers will need to continue regular pumping once they are discharged from the hospital. Having breast pumps to loan our families will help them to continue to provide breastmilk for their babies without the added expense of buying a hospital grade pump once they have gone home.

3 years agoWe did it! We had the best time! We have smashed our target as we have also been collecting sponsorship on the neonatal unit. The women in our care will benefit so much by having these breast pumps available for loan! You have all made this happen and for that we cannot thank you all enough! This is our before picture!

3 years agoThank you to everyone who has sponsored us so far. Tomorrow is the day! We did not expect it to be so hot so it’s gonna be tough but we are excited to get stuck in! We are very close to our target as we also have some sponsorship collected on the unit. This is our last chance to ask anyone who would like to sponsor us to please do so, we have mummies in need of these pumps and it will make such a difference to them whilst their babies are not able to go home. Wish us luck…..Team Tiny Humans!
