Story

Devon Air Ambulance are working with communities across Devon to establish pre-surveyed floodlit landing sites to enable the helicopter to land in communities at night.

This is a major step forward in potentially saving life during the hours of darkness.

If you suffer a major trauma in Braunton at night you are likely to be taken to Derriford Hosptial, Plymouth, a journey by land ambulance of around 2 hours. By helicopter it could be as short as 20-30 minutes.

The plan for Braunton is to set up the floodlit landing site on the Recreation Ground in the centre of the village.

To achieve this a 10 metre pole with associated lighting is required, at a cost of £6470.19. DAA have offered a grant of £3447.87, leaving a shortfall of £3022.32 to be raised by the community.

It is to meet this shortfall that this page has been set up.

The deadline is 14 August 2017
