    Story

On the 4th September University of Nottingham students will be flying out to Nepal as part of the social enterprise Bottle by Bottle.
Bottle by Bottle is part of Enactus Nottingham, made up on 10 students from various different courses at the University. We are a not-for-profit enterprise aiming to provide communities in Nepal with safe and affordable housing using our plastic bottle construction method.

Nepal was hugely affected by the 2015 earthquake with over 800,000 homes damaged or destroyed, and communities are still rebuilding. Our plastic bottle constructions are less than half the price of conventional Nepali brick houses, and the technology has been proven to be earthquake resistant. Not only this, but through using waste plastic bottles we are greatly reducing the negative impacts of plastic waste in Nepal, where plastic bottles are usually simple thrown onto the street or burnt.

    We want to help.

5 of us went to Nepal in Easter and conducted various assessments, and met a woman who couldn't receive government grants to build a conventional home. She has had to move into a temporary shelter, which is a tin sheet shack and she lives here alongside her daughter, and her daughter’s 4-month-old baby.
This September we are working alongside ASF Nepal to build this woman a new house. A plastic bottle house. We want to give her and her family security, and a greater quality of life. The incredible Kung Fu nuns of Nepal have already filled half of the bottles required for the build, and our employee will be organising volunteers alongside Himalayan Climate Initiative (HCI) to fill the remaining bottles.

The donations will help run the project, travel costs for the 2 trips and further project logistics.

Please help us bring this woman a new house and bring Nepal a new construction method, which we believe can ultimately fulfil rebuilding efforts in the future.

    Thank-you for your Help :)
