Story

In May this year, the BOTTERS. team will tackle the formidable 3 Peaks Challenge.

We are set to conquer the summits of the highest mountains in England, Scotland, and Wales within 24 hours.

Our goal is not just to push our limits, but to raise vital funds for Transcend Sarcoma , an organisation dedicated to battling a specific type of soft tissue sarcoma caused by chromosomal translocations.

Meet Jack 👇

Late in 2023, our friend Jack was diagnosed with a rare sub-type of Soft Tissue Sarcoma shortly after discovering a painful lump on his knee on his honeymoon.

Jack's sarcoma belongs to a distinct subgroup caused by chromosomal translocations - a genetic abnormality where parts of chromosomes break off and reattach, creating new cancer-driving genes that promote uncontrolled cell growth and tumour formation.

While not all sarcomas are caused by chromosomal translocations, this particular sub-group often poses significant challenges due to a lack of dedicated research.

The harsh reality is that current treatments can't reverse or cure patients, they only aim to extend life and manage the disease's progression. There's an urgent need for new, more effective treatment options – and this is where Transcend Sarcoma aims to make a lasting impact.

By donating, you'll be helping to fund research that will look into how treatments can have a much more positive outcome in the future!

Throughout 2024, Transcend Sarcoma is organising diverse events – from concerts and supper clubs to fitness challenges. Each event is crucial, hinging on the generosity of those donating time, skills, and resources.

By supporting our 3 Peaks Challenge, you're not just aiding one event; you're joining a larger movement dedicated to transforming research into Chromosomal Translocations, and, ultimately, improving patients' lives.

Join us, and let's transcend this challenge, one peak at a time!
