Story
141 Boston Air Cadets is desperately in need of ICT equipment (Laptops) that will enable the cadets to sit their electronic exams and so much more!
Cadets have to sit electronic lessons and exams that enable them to positively progress through their cadet career and achieve awards and qualifications that can be beneficial both as a cadet and as a civilian. Cadets have the opportunity to gain a range of CVQO qualifications including BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Aviation Studies and BTEC level 2 in Public Services. I’m sure you will agree extra qualifications can only ever be a positive thing.
With limited funding and resources, 141 Boston Squadron is struggling to provide the level of IT equipment necessary to enable the cadets to progress through their exams as we require.
Not only will the laptops provide a gateway to further qualifications, they will provide access to their Duke Of Edinburgh award online area. With access to this area the cadets are able to complete there portfolio which is a requirement to gain the award.
In this DofE portfolio the cadets have different sections they are required to complete.
Volunteering - This section encourages the cadets to take part in as many charitable events and schemes as possible. Volunteering is all about making a difference to other people’s lives and this enables the cadets to do that and put it towards their award.
Physical - The Physical section is a chance for you to focus on your health and fitness and have fun along the way. As long as you pick something that requires a sustained level of energy and physical activity, the possibilities are endless.
Skills - The Skills section is about discovering what you’re really good at. Maybe you want to get better at something you already do, like playing a musical instrument, or learn something for the very first time, like clay target shooting or banner drill.
Expedition - As part of a small team, the cadets plan and complete a practice and final expedition. They will improve their communication and leadership skills and take a rucksack full of memories home with them!
All of these important sections need documenting onto the online portal so that the cadets can gain this award that will give them a tremendous step-up above the rest!
This is where you can help! Donations will be put towards new laptops that will solve this issue we currently face.
Thank you for your support!
From all of the cadets at Boston Air Cadets!
