Story
Fire has destroyed several boatbuilding sheds at the historic Underfall Yard in Bristol, where 8 boatbuilders work on building and restoring wooden boats. These craftsmen often use specialised tools like caulking irons and mallets, specially shaped planes, etc. Often acquired over a lifetime and jealously protected. But also all the common hand and power tools for woodwork, that are their private tools. The company's insurance wont cover these. The usefulness of the tools in the shed that received partial fire damage, but plenty of water damage, is doubtful.
To ensure that these skilled and committed craftsmen can continue to serve the often historic wooden boats that rely on them, and for them to keep earning a living by maintaining and bringing beautiful things into the world, we urgently need funds NOW.
