More than 3780 children across Blackburn and Darwen are eligible for free school meals due to low incomes.
During the summer school holidays, these families face 6 weeks struggle to feed their children.

We will be launching for the first time ever in Blackburn - Blackburn Summer Lunchbox in partnership with local organisations, businesses Churches and Children's centres. Not forgetting an army of volunteers who with head up the mass sandwich operation to feed over 450 children who have registered over 6 weeks.

The lunches are going to be made every morning by volunteers at a central location in Blackburn by volunteers who are able to give just one hour from 8am to 9am, Monday to Friday.

Lunches will be collected from various Children's centres across the borough from 11am. The Childrens centres will be providing a wraparound activity for families to promote health and well being and working within the community.

We need volunteers to help make, pack and deliver lunches and also are looking for donations to cover the cost of a child's lunch.

Each lunch will cost £1 and you can help by buying a child's lunch - you can donate anything from £1 for one lunch to £25 to feed a child over the summer.
