Story
On July 28 I am doing my second triathlon in London and, just like last year, I would like to seize the opportunity to raise funds for another organisation I love: Lon-art Creative
I have been part of Lon-art since María (its founder) and I met in Vienna back in 2010-11. She was hired by the Spanish Embassy to run workshops in schools and, as I was doing an internship at the Embassy at that time, I was asked to be her interpreter. When I started considering moving to London in 2013, I messaged her hoping she would give me job. Lo and behold, as a small arts and activism organisation... you guessed it... there was no money! I moved nevertheless and I have been part of the organisation since, which María and I now direct together.
After having organised eight exhibitions and numerous workshops and talks, we have just launched our newest project, which will consolidate our experience working with women activist artists for the last six years: Sheroes Interventions.
Sheroes Interventions aims to contribute to reducing violence against women and girls and celebrating women hidden herstories.
We will do so by partnering with different public institutions (from universities and colleges to local authorities and NHS trusts) to display artworks by women activist artists aiming to engage communities on this difficult and challenging topic through an initial visual conversation.
While we apply for funding to be able to get the team together and make this a long-lasting effort, we are working on a pilot. So all the funds raised, will go towards it!
Thank you!! xx
Mil gracias!
