In February of this year a dear friend of our family, Mike Stone sadly passed away from end stage heart failure. Mike had suffered a heart attack in 2006 outside an opera house in Verona. With the aid of a defibrillator close to hand, Mike survived. He went on to enjoy another decade of precious life.

His widow Jo thought it appropriate to put donations for the funeral towards fitting and maintaining a defibrillator on the seafront of the seaside town of Sheringham, Norfolk. Their hometown for 26 years and a place I've called my second home for as long as I can remember.

Jo has currently collected over £900 with the generous help of people that knew Mike and the local community to Sheringham. We are currently looking to find £700 to reach the total amount.

Uncle Mike had a hugely positive influence on my life and was someone I looked up to hugely. I feel the defibrillator will be a fitting tribute to Mike and will hopefully save lives. So I am cycling with the aid of some good friends from the seafront at Sheringham to my home in Worcestershire. Leaving on Tuesday 27th June, we will spend the next four days cycling the 220 something mile trip ( providing we don't make too many wrong turns). Aiming to arrive home in time for a pint in our local on Friday evening.

It's a lot of cycling but it's an experience I'm looking forward to and I'd really like to use it as a way of helping Jo reach her target for the defibrillator.
