Bridport Gig Rowing Club is a fast growing community project that enables people of all ages and backgrounds to experience rowing both recreationally out of West Bay and competitively throughout the UK. Operating 7 days a week, over 150 local people enjoy hard exercise and social connection through rowing in one of the clubs beautiful Cornish Pilot Gigs.

With a waiting list to join, the club needs to expand and replace older boats with newer models. The time has now come to replace 'Dagger' the clubs first racing Gig with a new boat. This replacement Gig will help towards keeping the club on the water serving it's local community.

Wooden Gigs are not cheap and we need to raise £27,999 to cover the cost the traditional materials and expert building techniques that have not altered in 150 years.

To begin this fundraising, BGRC rowers are taking on a mammoth virtual row 1800 miles (2880 km) around Great Britain. Using the clubs rowing machines, rowers will aim to combine their individual distances until a staggering 2,880,000 painful meters brings us back to West Bay.

Please be generous in sponsoring the rowers through the long hours, days and weeks that it will take to complete this challenge. It is a huge undertaking that reflects the amount of money the club needs to raise.
