Story

Many of you know I have always been passionate about helping others, seeking justice and supporting women. It's been my dream since I was a child to have my own charity, and finally this year I have started this journey with the Bexceptional Foundation. We achieved legal registration on December 10th 2020, with registration number 1192745.

The charity will have three goals; to Educate, Protect and Empower women, girls and female identifying people. In particular, we will offer partially funded counselling to females who have experienced, or are experiencing, sex/gender based violence, harm, trauma or abuse. We have a network of partner counsellors throughout England who will deliver the counselling, and the Bexceptional Foundation will (on successful application by the beneficiary) provide funding of up to 50% for each beneficiary to enable access to counselling. You can read more about it on our website - www.bexceptionalfoundation.com

We are currently fundraising with the goal of launching the charity officially on January 18th 2021. We aim to raise as much as possible ahead of this date so that we can begin approving funding for counselling as soon as possible. We are currently a volunteer-trustee led charity, which means all money donated goes to funding counselling and small operational costs (e.g. the cost of the website hosting platform). No trustee makes any financial gain from these donations.

Due to covid, the waiting list to get a charity bank account is around 3 months. As such, we have enlisted a chartered accountant who has advised us that we are able to operate the charity using a designated bank account, which is solely for charity finances and monitored by the accountant and the trustees. This is completely legal and common practice for new, small charities when they start. This bank account is currently in my name (Rebecca Hall) and will be converted to a charity bank account as soon as our application is approved. This is the reason that this is a 'personal' donation page, not one linked to the charity bank account, as it does not yet exist. All transactions and monetary matters are documented and approved by the trustees, as well as recorded for official accounting.

Any donation you are able to make would mean the world both to me and to the women, girls and female identifying people who will be using this service to improve their lives and remember that they can - regardless of what they have been through - be exceptional too.
