I've raised £5000 to In memory of Afrika Yearwood Raise funds to Increase counselling services & reduce waiting times for young people age 5-18 in Rothwell

Mental health is a rising concern for young people today particularly in teenage years as they move into adulthood, sometimes mental health can be overlooked and can be put down to ' normal teenage behaviours'. As services struggle in a world of reducing resources everyone strives to make budgets stretch and make difficult choices as to which child is the most in need or the priority to access counselling services. A referral for counselling via your GP can take up to six months , which leaves many families struggling and coping alone whereas the more affluent families are fortunate to access help and pay for private therapy . I care because wherever you live and how well off you are should not determine how long you wait for help. Early intervention is what is needed to prevent emotional issues developing into more serious mental health problems. In the area which i live we are fortunate that the The Rothwell Cluster of schools has invested in Counselling services which provides an effective emotional and well being service to young people but the capacity due to demand is often outweighed and creates waiting periods. Our aim is to raise £5,000 which would provide counselling services for an additional 11 young people and reduce pressure on waiting times. IN Memory and honour of AFRIKA YEARWOOD PLEASE DONATE GENEROUSLY - OUR YOUNG PEOPLE SHOULDNT HAVE TO WAIT FOR MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES TO EXACERBATE .
