Be the Light is working in partnership with Food banks (In Thurrock, Essex) and other community partners to start providing fresh produce at food banks. With the increasing demand on food banks it is important that we do our best to help ensure that people are still able to have some sort of balanced diet.

After conversations with food bank visitors, we are increasingly realising that people are finding it very difficult to purchase the extras they need and tend to go without them, which means in many cases children are going without much needed fruit and vegetables. Food bank parcels generally contain 3-4 days worth of emergency canned food. Fresh food items will ensure people are able to make more nutritious meals out of their parcels.

Unfortunately the cost of living is rising fast which means things are getting tighter and people are finding it harder to cope. We are finding that people from all walks of life are using Food banks, and in desperate need of help with essential's to get by.

Each Box will cost approx. £5-£7 we are working with local suppliers to ensure we get the best possible prices and discounts.

£10,000 can purchase approximately 2,000 boxes, which will be distributed from May until December.

Be the light is asking for your support. Can you please give as much as you can towards what we call Light boxes. Each light box will be packed with some bread, eggs, milk, vegetables and fruit so that family's can prepare more wholesome meals.
