Story

Hello,

I'm Bertie, I'm 9 years old and I have just finished year 4.

I wanted to challenge myself during the summer holidays, so after talking to mum and dad about what I could do, we decided that dad and I would climb Scafell Pike, England's highest mountain, wild camping on the way up.

I will spend the first part of the holidays training for this, on smaller hills and mountains and then attempt to summit the mountain in mid to late August.

I then had the idea that whilst doing this I could help to support a good cause, this will also give me some extra motivation if I need it during difficult parts of the training and summit attempt.

Every year, my school supports The Christmas Sparkle Project in Taunton and Wellington, collecting new children's presents for families that are experiencing difficult times.

As a family we have supported this project every year since I was little.
My teacher in year 4, Mrs Thompson Gardiner, is a member of the core team at Sparkle, so it would be extra special for me if I could help her and her friends in the amazing work they do every year.

I will update you on my training progress over the summer and any size donation will be a big help.

Thank you,
Bertie
