Story

Ben 17, is living with a very rare cancer called Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) this form of cancer is so rare it effects 2 children a year.

Ben had been unwell for about 18 months with a range of symptoms, but due to COVID and Doctors not recognising all the symptoms, it was missed until the 2nd July 2021 when an amazing Doctor decided to admit Ben into hospital and started with scans and MRI. On the 6th July 2021 Ben was told he had a tumour on his liver, lymph node pushing on his heart and lymph node on pancreas. Ben is not able to have a liver transplant as this form of cancer would attack the new liver, and sadly there is not enough good liver to regenerate.

For Ben and his family this is absolutely devastating, as Doctors explain chemotherapy is not always guaranteed to work, and sadly this is the case for Ben.

Ben is an amazing young boy and has been fighting this awful cancer the best he can, it has been so difficult for him as Ben loved his position as a goal keeper for many years but sadly this awful disease has taken everything from him.

This fundraiser is to raise much needed funds for Ben and his family for the additional costs they are incurring together with giving them the opportunity to make life long memories.
