Update: Beckenham – you’ve been incredible!!!!!!

We reached our initial milestone of £12,000 and have since sailed over. Thank you all so very much!!!!

After careful feedback and much consideration we are now setting our sights on achieving the full specification of lighting throughout the High Street which will cost £19,500.

Does that mean we have to raise another £5,500 from our residents? No!

Because we have many wonderful local businesses who are supporting us, and whose donations will be included in our grand total very soon, so keep an eye out!

What we do need, is to raise some of this together, and for this we ask your help! What will the additional funding include?

ALL working lampposts will have a decoration on them, as well as further lighting wrapping down the lampposts.

And perhaps most importantly - the addition of lights running above all the shops, from the corner of Beckenham Junction opposite the Green, all the way down to Thornton’s Corner, and from there onwards down the High Street to the War Memorial.

This will be absolutely spectacular, so please do continue to give what you can and lets, together, bring some truly memorable Christmas Sparkle to Beckenham this Christmas!!!

!!! Support us to light up Beckenham this Christmas !!!

As we all know, last year there were reduced Christmas lights in Beckenham. Historically these have been funded by local businesses, but understandably in these more difficult times, it has not been possible to cover the costs.

But Beckenham, we know the power of our local community!

So this year we are turning to our whole community, businesses and residents alike, to come together to bring Christmas cheer back to Beckenham!!

Every single penny counts, so any donation, no matter how large or small, is greatly appreciated!

The Beckenham Lights Committee are a small group of local unpaid volunteers, raising funds to make this happen. We are working closely with our local councillor and the Copers Cope Area Resident’s Association to coordinate procurement, installation and – most importantly – switch on of the lights!

Funds raised will cover –

Lighting hire , high Street lights banner , licences and costs , contractor installation fees , christmas trees at the War Memorial and Beckenham Green and our switch on event

Our aim is to raise £12,000 – which will ensure a bright and festive town centre for all to enjoy.
