Overview & Objective

The Big Community Takeaway started as a response to help people in crisis because of the Covid-19 pandemic but this has now evolved – we really didn’t expect to be going a year later. Sadly, what our work has shown is that food poverty is a real issue here in the Chilterns, one of the most affluent areas of the country.

Since its inception in May 2020, we’ve provided over 10,000 two-course hot-meals to people in crisis, 47% of whom are children. We’ve only been able to do this because of the generosity of our supporters and volunteers. However, the need continues and is growing.
