Story

November evening, 2020 Bre and her son were in bed when they were alerted to a fire outside their home by a neighbour. The stairs to their only exit was covered in flames. Bre had to watch her son, age 5 at the time, get carried down the stairs on her neighbours shoulders. They went back to living in the property because there was no damage to it and they felt they had no other choice. At the time she lived as a full time working, single mum so didn't have the time or the funds to find a new place. She strugled for months with anxiety every time she saw the lights from the bin men, loud noises, smokey smells but dealt with it.

Around 5am on October 3rd 2021 another fire broke out and was much worse leaving their property and the neighbours property temporarily inhabitable. Bre was awoken by her cat jumping onto her recovering broken ankle which alerted her to this fire. The crackling, the heat, the flickering light triggered her into a panic. She woke her husband who had only joined her in the UK 2 months ago and he called the emergency services. Their son was away for the weekend. The rest was a blur. She remembers screaming out of the window for people to help them and their neighbours. Not one person was around. It was terrifying. Their only exit was too dangerous as the fire had started to hollow out the centre of the cat flap to their door. They're only option was climb out of the bathroom window, onto their decking, climb and jump over the fence onto the other neighbours rooftop to get down to safety. This is whilst recovering from ankle surgery.

This family have a traumatic history of a house fire which took the lives of 4 children October 1987. After 2 fires here at the property, in less than a year, they are desperate to find another home in which they can feel safe.

Bre says they had a quick escape the first time it happened. A traumatic escape the second time with damage to the property. She fears a 3rd time may not be so lucky.after being awoken by there cat Bre and her husband had to escape a Burning building Bre with a broken foot. Now they have a whole life to rebuild and need to find a new suitable family home
