I've raised £2000 to support needy families with affordable food.

Bingley Community Kitchen is a local charity located within Trinity All Saints C of E Primary School. It is one of the Bradford FoodSavers outlets which provides affordable food for families within Bingley and Bingley Rural districts of Bradford. Customers attending the weekly Market Stall held on Fridays between 12 noon and 1.15pm are offered a range of fresh, frozen and store cupboard items in exchange for a small weekly membership fee. In addition, customers receive free fruit and vegetables and the ingredients to make a slow cooker recipe. They also have the opportunity to join the local Credit Union as this offers them the chance to save £1 of their weekly membership fee.
Currently, we have Household Support Fund grant until the end of March 2024 from Bradford Council but as the number attending has increased nearly threefold in the last year, we also rely on donations from the local community, organisations, friends and colleagues.
The rationale behind the project is to ensure:
a) Children and families develop life skills to prevent future hunger for both themselves and their families;
b) Vulnerable groups can access food and are able to cook nutritious meals;
c) There is a concerted effort to reduce the carbon footprint through using food which would otherwise go into landfill; and
d) There is strengthened partnership between the schools, churches and community groups within the Bingley area.
