Story
Growing up with a congential heart issue was tough, it was something I was born with and always had to live with, as such alot of my earlier life was full of test, procedures or doctors visits.
Continually being prescribed new medication and then carefully monitored to see how this may or may not affect me, all this was inbetween the many operations I was asked to endure, a;; this to try and correct an issue which ultimately would never disappear, these times would be hard for anyone, not to mention someone who couldn't quite grasp the severity of the issue at hand. I dreaded these visits, loathed them, everytime I was told I had to stay, be informed another x-ray would need to be taken or cardiac echo would need to be performed, well it made my heart sink, however there was some form of solice.
I found this solice in gaming, Im old enough to remember the Master System, they used to have one in the main reception of the heart institute, playing Alex the Kidd was my form of escape, a form of escape I frequently used to momentarily forget all the issues I was about to endure, it wasn't just Alex who kept me company, I had Sonic, Mario, Final Fantasy, Crash even Ken and Ryu helped me through these times. Just being able to escape for 10-15 minutes in between procedures or spending hours helping Squall on his Journey in Final Fantasy while I was waiting to be taken down for yet another surgery, well it meant the world and helped disipate the worry I had.
It really is difficult to quite to explain how much these escapes helped with the situations I routinely found myself in, as such I would like to somehow find a way to help other kids who find themselves in a similar position that I once did, and as a means to do this I have started this JustGiving page in the hopes of raising funds to provide the same hospital I at times resided in a few new games consoles, ideally Nintendo Switches, I think these would be ideal as they're inexpensive compared to the more powerful consoles as well as being highly portable.
I have set quite a modest target that will allow me to buy 2 consoles as well as a game for each, however if more is raised more consoles would be purchased. These would really help alot of children forget the worries the world has unfairly thrown at them at such a young age and any contribution you are able to provide I think would be hugely appreciated by the children allowing them to be distracted/entertained through some of the most difficult times in their young lives.
Thank You

4 years agoWe hit our target and a little bit more. In fact this has been successful enough that we've been in contact with a local IT consultancy company, DSD-Technologies Ltd. They've advised that if we're able to get this to £650 they'll happily match the £650. Come on everyone, let's get this done.
