I've raised £3050 to Help support families with sick children

Baby Oisin was born at only 950gs in Kings College Hospital at just 25 weeks old. Oisin was born prematurely which resulted him spending the first few months of his life in hospital under constant care.
Thankfully the amazing people at Ronald McDonald House Camberwell provided his parents Seanin and Mark with a place to stay while they spent many difficult nights at the hospital.
Every year the The House helps and supports dozens of families offering a free place to stay for families with sick children. The house relies heavily on fundraising to stay open and voluntary support these families.
I'm going to attempt to cross the whole of England carrying a microwave with no money to raise funds for the house. The challenge is to make it across the country with nothing relying on the kindness of strangers hitch hiking to different cities carrying a heavy bag and a full size microwave. I've previously traveled across Ireland and Scotland with the microwave but I know that England is going to be very difficult and challenging. The next few weeks are going to be very cold and carrying a microwave is absolutely exhausting.
All money raised from my trip will be donated to the Ronald Mc Donald House Camberwell to help support Baby Oisin and the many families who are faced with this incredible difficulty of having a sick child.
Some of the issues he faced were:
Chronic lung disease (BPD, PIE), Renal failure, hypertension, hypotension hyperalbuminemia hypokalaemia, sepsis several times ( he was on antibiotics for over 100 days). Intra-atrial thrombus, abnormal tortuous blood vessels, retinopathy of prematurity plus disease, intravenous - ventricular haemorrhage, peri- ventricular leukomalacia, sub- glottis cyst and multiple pneumothorax. He had multiple blood transfusion and over 31 surgical procedures
Seanin has shared her experiences of the house below:
"Oisín our son was born at 25 weeks at Kings College Hospital which is 1hr 45mins in 3 trains from our house we were lucky enough to receive a place to stay at Ronald Mc Donald house Camberwell during the 6 months he spend in hospital. which is what took us to the house a very scary experience after 17 IVF attempts. having the chance to stay and spent more time with Oisín was unbelievable and we will forever be grateful for it. We probably would of ended up renting something locally as he was so unwell we just didn't want to leave it, we were told several times he wouldn't make it, it was a long and very tough road.
When I first went to the house I was in a daze, I'm normally very friendly and chatty but I just didn't want to communicate with anyone. The first few weeks are quite blurry. We spent very little time there over the first few weeks apart from 3-4 hours a day to sleep but it was great knowing we had somewhere when needed. All the staff were brilliant, very friendly and supportive and we will always remember them. They constantly asked how things were, Maureen always knew the times that you needed a hug. After only being there 2 weeks we came home to a happy birthday sign on our door and a present for me...so thoughtful!! Unfortunately we don't have any family in the UK but are families were great and travel over from Ireland on an almost weekly basis and they were made to feel more than welcome in the house, Daddy even got involved in cooking for the Father's Day breakfast.
Oisín had lots of issues all due to being a micro premature baby and this resulted in us staying almost 6 months we would of been lost without it. It was definitely a home from home. We got to know lots of different families while in the house and have kept in contact with them we found it very supportive as we were all going through similar situations. We are hoping to arrange a catch up in the house with them soon as well as all the staff though I do pop in anytime we are back for an appointment.

We have lots of appointments since discharge and still have a long road ahead but the support we received and continue to receive has been amazing.
We spent 192 days in hospital .... over 80 of those ventilated, another 35 on NIPPV/CPAP, then the rest on high flow and low flow oxygen. Oisín is home on oxygen 24 hours a day and although he can suck he is still mostly fed through a tube. We are currently trying to get him to take more orally so we can get rid of the tube but as he was fed this way for so long it is going to take awhile to retrain his brain into realising he need to work for his food. At present we need to do it so he doesn't get dehydrated. We have anything from 2-5 appointments per weeks seeing physio, occupational therapist, cardiologist, ENT, ophthalmologist, neonatologist, pediatricia, dietician and salt and language therapist.
Please donate and support the house.
