Story

A team of Axis colleagues and some willing Axis partners from across the security industry will be challenging themselves to walk the Yorkshire Three Peaks on the 20th May. Having completed the National Three Peaks back in 2019, now feels like the right time to do our next long mountain walk. It has been agreed that 24 months has been plenty of time to recover, both physically and emotionally from the National Three Peaks. But let’s not be fooled, the Yorkshire Three Peaks is no walk in the park, with some saying that it is more physically challenging as there are no breaks between the mountains. Having not done this one yet, we will reserve our judgment until we can complete this and can compare the two. The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order, and in under 12 hours. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park with a route which is around 24 miles (38.6km), and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent. I’m sure there are going to be some sore legs when this has finished.

Once again, we have chosen charities close to our heart and ones that we know do some fantastic work. Again, we will continue to support PTSD Resolution (https://ptsdresolution.org/) who do some incredible work for colleague across the security industry and their families. We have also chosen NHS Charities Together (https://www.nhscharitiestogether.co.uk/). If it was good enough for the incredible Captain Sir Tom Moore, it is good enough for us. I am sure you will agree that this is a very worthwhile charity, especially in the current climate.

It has been agreed that we will set up a crowdfunding page so we can split any kind donations between two different charities. At the same time, we will be able to donate to these and benefit from days like 'The Big Give' that will double donations.
